The Resplendent Toda-ryu of the Sengoku Era, Enriched by the Kiraku-ryu

Toda-ryu, flourishing during the tumultuous Sengoku period under the leadership of Toda Koshu no Kami, was further innovated by the seventh generation Watanabe Mokueemon, who integrated new jujutsu techniques to establish the Kiraku-ryu. Iizuka Garyusai, credited as the revitalizer of Kiraku-ryu, was born in Joshu Province and learned both Kiraku-ryu and Toda-ryu from his uncle. Succeeding as the tenth generation head of Kiraku-ryu, Garyusai extensively studied various martial arts schools. Eventually, he integrated Muteki-ryu with Kiraku-ryu and Toda-ryu, completing the Kiraku-ryu Sanjutsu as a profound martial art widely propagated across Joshu Province.

This artistry includes techniques that dynamically adapt to various situations, blending jujutsu's body maneuvers such as grappling and throwing with diverse weapon arts like staff techniques, the secret weapon of Toda-ryu's Half-Staff Art, the Keikijo, sickle and chain techniques, and iron fan techniques.

Through the ages, the phantom martial art Kiraku-ryu, hidden in the shadows of history, is presented by the 19th generation head, Iizuka Bunjiro.
