Featuring:

Hirokazu Kanazawa Born in 1931 in Iwate Prefecture. In 1922 (Taisho 11), he learned Karate from Yachigusa Yoshitane, who introduced Karate to the mainland for the first time at the Ministry of Education-sponsored First Physical Education Exhibition, and from Master Nakayama Shoji. In 1957, he won the individual kumite at the first All Japan Karate-do Championship organized by the Japan Karate Association. The following year, at the second championship in 1958, he achieved the remarkable feat of winning both individual kumite and kata. In 1960, he was dispatched as an instructor to Hawaii, where he spent approximately two and a half years. Since then, he has traveled extensively to the United States, Europe, Africa, South America, the Middle East, Asia, and various other countries around the world, dedicating himself to the spread and instruction of Karate. In 1978, he founded the International Shotokan Karate Federation. From 1981, he held annual national championships and every three years, starting in 1983, world championships. He passed away on December 8, 2019.
