The second new technical book that sharply demonstrates and explains the essence of karate-do kata!

[Stay with kata, don't get addicted to kata]

"Martial arts" is the art of protecting yourself from any situation, and it is diverse, including not only bare-handed techniques, but also weapons, horsemanship, gunnery, watercraft, fortification, shipbuilding, navigation, hypnotism, and medicine. In our general understanding, martial arts are merely individual combat skills, and this is only one aspect of the original martial arts.

"Kata" is a collection of information about combat techniques and body movements before competition, and through training in kata, you can acquire elements of martial arts that are not found in competitions.

Therefore, it is impossible to fight in modern competitions with kata techniques, and it is unreasonable to directly link the results of kata training to kumite competitions. However, there are some useful aspects regarding how to exert force, how to structure techniques, and how to use the body, so there is no need to think of kumite competitions and kata as completely separate. Both are part of the same karate training method, so there should be commonalities between them.

It's all a matter of how you think about it and how you understand it. Even if you have strengths and weaknesses, I hope you will put your all into both without being biased.
