About the authors:

Koichi Tohei 

Born in 1920. Graduated from Keio University. Head of the Ki no Kenkyukai Foundation. Although he was sickly as a child, he devoted himself to judo, Zen, and misogi training to train his mind and body while attending Keio University's preparatory course. He began studying Aikido at the age of 19 and later achieved the highest rank, 10th dan. Since 1953, he has traveled frequently to the United States and Europe, working to spread the principles of Ki and Aikido. In 1971, he established the Ki Research Group. He is also famous for teaching Ki to famous athletes in the sports world, including Sadaharu Oh and Chiyonofuji. He has written many books, including “The Power of Ki," "Healing Disease with Ki," and "The Secret of Happiness lies in Ki."

Sumiko Tohei

Born in 1938. Managing Director of the Ki Research Foundation. Mrs. Koichi Tohei. In 1967, moved to the United States. While visiting the United States and observing the work of Koichi Tohei, who was working to spread Ki, she became interested in the topic of Ki, and began studying under Koichi Tohei. In 1971, she established the Ki Research Group with Koichi Tohei, and is responsible for its management and guidance. In 1991, she became the executive director of the association. She currently serves as an instructor for the association's leadership team and is active in many fields at the forefront of the spread of Ki. Aikido 5th dan. In her hobby of tea ceremony, she serves as an instructor in the Omotesenke region.
