2009 Further Expansion
In 2009, the World Kudo Championship expanded its reach with participation from 57 countries worldwide. The event featured six men's weight classes along with a women's division, where global powerhouses competed under the banner of the Hokuto Flag. Kudo, advocated by Grandmaster Takaishi of the Grand Path Dojo, emerged as an antithesis to various combat sports. It integrated elements from diverse disciplines while upholding the essence of martial arts as self-defense.
