During the early 1930's Helio Gracie, the mastermind of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, became Brazil's first fighting legend. His first-born son, Rorion, began practicing this method of self-defense at the age of 2. In the late 70's, after graduating Law School at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Rorion decided to bring his family's techniques to the United States.

In 1993, Rorion Gracie created the Ultimate Fighting Championship® (UFC®) with the objective of answering the age old question: Which martial art was the most effective for a real street fight?
