Chi Kung Vol 1 DVD by Lawrence Galante (Preowned)
"Breath control," known as Chi Kung to the Chinese and Pranayama to the Yogis of India, is one of the fundamental practices used in Chinese medicine, martial arts, and Tai Chi Chuan. Ancient Chinese warriors attributed their ability to perform seemingly super-human feats to Chi Kung mastery. The proper use of chi can make one impervious to the punches and kicks of fighting techniques as well as generally improve the body's immunity to disease.
Today, Chi Kung is practiced as a therapeutic exercise in many hospitals and clinics throughout China. It is also taught in the parks of all the large cities in China to promote the health and vitality of the general public. The deep breathing exercises oxygenate the blood, organs, and cells of the body. They also relax the mind and promote a state of well-being and are suitable for people of all ages.
While studying in China in 1984, Dr. Lawrence Galante, PhD learned the Chi Kung form he performs on this video from Master Zhang Guang De, then professor of the Chi Kung Department at Beijing University. Through rigorous and regular practice of this form, Master Zhang was able to cure himself of lung cancer. More recently, the curative powers of Chi Kung were widely reported in North America by Bill Moyers in his popular Public Television broadcast "Healing and the Mind." Dr. Galante has studied Chi Kung and other Chinese martial arts since 1964 and has traveled throughout Asia, Europe, and North America teaching Tai Chi and Chi Kung. His book "Tai Chi-—the Supreme Ultimate," first published in 1981, is a classic text on the Yang-style short form.
