The Combined Pugilism of Snake, Cat and crane originated from Shaolin's Five Fist which includes Dragon, Tiger, Leopard, Crane and Snake. . The Snake and Crane were already available in Shaolin's Five Fist. The reason for using the Cat instead of the Tiger is because the former is less violent in nature it is lighter and agiler in weight and is in compliance with the principle of fighting art. The mentioned pugilism was taught to Mr. Laing by a strange monk named Yi Cheng who stayed in an old temple in a certain country in Kiangsu Province. The monk was not only proficient in many kinds of pugilism but was especially remarkable in the ability of lightness. He was able to cross obstacles like high buildings, hills or rivers very easily and lightly as a bird. The mentioned pugilism posses a combination of both the hard and the soft types in feature. People who take it can benefit much and improve greatly in fighting tactics.
